Arson and good housekeeping
Thousands of businesses experience arson every year – in our county alone the figure runs into several hundreds of instances just taking into account businesses.

At best it can be inconvenient and a small degree of cost incurred, at worst it could put you out of business. This section of the website offers useful information on how to reduce the chances of becoming a victim.
If you have any information on deliberate fires, you can contact FireStoppers on 08000 286627.

Good Housekeeping
Do not leave waste or unwanted items such as pallets outside – these are highly flammable and pose a potential fire hazard, either accidental, or act as a magnet to an arsonist.

If your business utilises flammable materials, it is vital that these are stored correctly and kept locked away (as should any empty containers that may still contain residue) to ensure they cannot be accessed by unauthorised persons.

Make sure that premises are kept well maintained and free of litter. An uncared for appearance and litter in general tends to attract crime such as graffiti and window smashing.

Well maintained properties are less likely to attract the rogue element.
