The report shows how the county council's community safety unit has contributed to the reduction in crime and the fear of crime. It shows targets set by Government and how we are managing them in the county.
It shows the Local Area Agreement (LAA) Priorities. These are made between central and local government, with the aim to meet local needs whilst contributing towards the standards set by central government. These are used locally to measure performance.
What does it mean?
“Previous Year’s Performance” shows how well we did in the last year. Some of this data may be empty, as the indicators were agreed last year. If these are blank, the “Compared to last year” column will also be blank. The blanks mean that the target was not set in the previous year, or agreed.
The “Status” column is the current status of the indicator, compared with the “target” column to its right. Some of the status boxes contain (No) which means it is measured in number, (%) which measures in percentages of the indicator, and (Scale) which measures the target in a sliding scale, of 1 to 10 for example. It is important to note that the data is accumulative in the status box.
Status box colour coding is explained below
Colour of the box and what this means
Red - we are not meeting the target by more than 5 per cent
Amber - we are not meeting the target by up to 5 per cent
Green - we are meeting the target set
Grey - these figures aren’t set, but the target is being monitored, or some data is not available to set a coloured status.
Quarter one (Q1) is from April to June, Quarter two (Q2) from July to September, Quarter three (Q3) is October to December and Quarter four (Q4) shows in the Status box, running from January to March.
