Creswell

Residents of the ‘Model Village’, Creswell, have been involved in designing a project to reclaim and develop an area of wasteland at the rear of the estate. The long term plan is for residents to take on the future maintenance of the project area.

Activity has included the cutting back of overgrown vegetation, litter clearance, removal of fly-tipping, the controlled demolition of derelict garages and general tidying of the site. Future work includes the preparation and setting out of a new parking area and community garden.

To compliment the activity, a ‘bulky goods’ amnesty took place on the 25th July 2007. This saw a coordinated approach to the issue of fly-tipping with residents able to responsibly dispose of bulky waste. During the amnesty, 12 tonnes of bulky waste were collected.

Agencies involved in the project include Bolsover Community Safety Partnership, Groundwork Creswell, Derbyshire County Council, Bolsover District Council, Creswell Model Village Residents’ Association, Derbyshire Constabulary and Creswell Townscape Heritage Initiative.
