Every three years the High Peak Community Safety Partnership has to produce a Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy.

In order to produce the 2005-08 strategy an audit process was carried out which:

• Reviewed the past three years’ crime and disorder data to identify any patterns
• Compiled the results of community consultation and surveys
• Identified local priorities
• Considered national, regional and county targets

Following this extensive audit and consultation process four priorities and 2 cross-cutting themes have been identified.  These are:

Priorities

• To reduce Domestic Burglary
• To reduce Vehicle Crime
• To reduce Anti-Social Behaviour
• To reduce Violent Crime

Cross-cutting Themes

• To reduce drug and alcohol related crime
• To target prolific and other priority offenders

The cross cutting themes are not specific to one particular type of crime but are related to a number of crime types.  For example, drug users may commit burglary or car theft to obtain money to buy drugs and violent crime is strongly linked to alcohol misuse.  Prolific and priority offenders are responsible for committing a large amount of crime, and may commit more than one type of crime.
