North East Derbyshire CSP - Car crime campaign
The North East Derbyshire Community Safety Partnership launched a campaign in 2007 to reduce the amount of car crime in the District.
Leaflets bearing the slogan “Forget it” are being left by police officers on the windscreens of parked vehicles as a means of deterring thieves.
The brightly coloured leaflet which states that no valuables have been left in the car, serves two purposes. Not only does it warn thieves that police are operating in the area, but it also reminds motorists not to leave valuables in their vehicles.
Chair of the Partnership, Councillor Peter Riggott, said: “This is an eye-catching campaign aimed at alerting motorists to the danger of leaving valuables in parked vehicles.”
“It also serves as a warning to thieves that Police are out and about in the area. We know from experience that where similar campaigns have been used, crime levels have gone down as thieves move on to easier targets.”
The leaflet is available to download as a PDF below.
