Operation Duck saw 22 search warrants carried out by local officers in the Church Gresley, Hartshorne, Midway and Newhall areas between January 14th and 18th 2008.

There were 19 people arrested for a variety of offences including possession, supply and production of drugs, theft and forgery.

Quantities of amphetamine and cannabis were recovered along with £12,000 in cash and £9,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco.

Four cannabis production set-ups were also seized at four different addresses.

Inspector Rick Cuttell, who's in charge of policing in the Swadlincote area, said: "The operation as a whole has proved very successful in terms of the arrests made and drugs and property seized.

"What was extremely encouraging was that we were acting upon intelligence from members of local communities.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to say that we will continue our efforts to make south Derbyshire as safe a place to live as possible and to do that we need the continued help and support of local people."
