Parenting Classes
Parenting classes aim to provide a supportive and positive environment to improve relationships and communication between parents and teenagers and reduce involvement in anti-social behaviour.

Parenting classes can cover a range of issues, such as:

  • building self esteem
  • communication and listening skills
  • problem solving
  • setting boundaries
  • discipline
  • parenting styles
  • conflict resolution
  • sex & relationships
  • drugs

National research shows that successful parenting helps to raise levels of educational achievement, reduce teenage pregnancy and contribute to the reduction of anti-social behaviour.  It has also shown that where children are brought up in a stable environment, and have a good relationship with their parents, they are less likely to display delinquent behaviour. The capacity and willingness of the parent or parents to supervise their children and exercise fair and consistent discipline is crucial.
