Drugs and alcohol

There is a strong link between drug and alcohol use and crime. Across Derbyshire all of the Community Safety Partnerships are dealing with drug and alcohol related crime.

For example, drug use is linked with crimes such as burglary and theft. Alcohol is linked with violent crime such as domestic abuse or violence in town centres. Both drug and alcohol use are also linked with different types of Anti-social Behaviour.

The Government has made funding available to Community Safety Partnerships to tackle drug use. This funding is supporting targeted police activity, education and prevention programmes, support for young people and support for parents and carers of drug users.
