Achievements of the Community Safety Partnership 2003-2007

  • Over 1700 Burglary Reduction Packs have been delivered to victims of burglary across the district.

  • Over 5000 Property Marking Kits have been distributed to households and at events across the District.

  • 300 car alarms have been distributed to victims of vehicle crime across the district by the police.

  • 30 Burglary Warning Signs have been installed to warn residents in hotspot areas of potential burglary.

  • Since 2005 we have held over 50 ‘Crime Cracking’ events where over 4000 residents have attended to receive crime prevention advice.

  • Improved street lighting in Blackwell, Clowne, Whitwell, Bramley Vale, Shirebrook and Creswell.

  • Pub Watch Schemes have been set up and are successful in Shirebrook, Bolsover, Creswell and Whitwell.

  • Since 2005 we have run 5 radio advert campaigns for Burglary (Sneak-ins, Dark nights and Bogus Callers), Violent Crime and Nuisance Motorcycles.

  • CAN Rangers and Neighbourhood Management mainstreamed into Community Services.

  • N-gage partnership formed over a year ago and has over 20 statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure greater strategic provision of youth focused activities, greater co-ordination and integration of activities.  Activities are planned through ASB reports and youth crime problems.
    Total number of attendances – 6438, number of individual young people – 846, number of sessions delivered – 668, number of activity hours delivered 1898, number of referred young people – 32.

  • Other diversionary activities include Street Sports with 6950 young people and 340 sessions.  The police have been running boxing training sessions called OzBox and since 2003 have delivered sessions to over 3,000 young people.

  • CCTV has been installed at two leisure centres (Creswell and Kissingate) and Shirebrook Skatepark and Shirebrook Market Place. Also wireless CCTV has been installed in Bolsover Town Centre.

  • Six Safer Neighbourhood Areas have been identified and teams of police Beat officers, PCSOs, Can Rangers and members of the ASB Team have been deployed.  The areas include; South Normanton/Pinxton, Tibshelf/Newton/Blackwell, Glapwell/Pleasley, Bolsover/Carr Vale, Shirebrook/Langwith/Whaley Thorns, Clowne/Barlborough/Creswell/Whitwell.

  • Provided Police Officers 4 locations in the community at Bramley Vale, Whitwell, Bolsover and South Normanton.

  • ASB Team members undertaking a postgraduate course in ASB, Law and Strategies.

  • Parenting Practitioner employed as a new member of the ASB Team to work with parents and deliver Parenting Programmes.

  • In 2006 The ASB team surveyed over 1000 residents of the district to establish the publics perception of the ASB teams performance and their opinion on ASB in the area.  From those surveyed 38% felt that the council was good at tackling Anti Social Behaviour whilst another 38% didn't know whether they were good or not, which could indicate that they have not used the service.  When the public were asked to compare ASB in bolsover to other areas of the country almost 30% thought that it was decreasing.  A further response from the public showed that 46% thought that it was easy to report Anti Social behaviour to Bolsover District Council, with only 15% thinking that it was not easy.

  • Since June 2005 a Domestic Abuse Outreach Wokrer has been employed and based in Community Services and received over 340 domestic abuse referrals.

  • Since September 2005 over 1200 properties have been installed with security measures under the Safe and Secure scheme.

  • In 2004/05 the ASB Team was developed, since this time to date we have issued 203 ABCs, 21 ASBOs (2 pending), 10 Injunctions/Undertakings and 4 Dispersal Orders.

  • 3 Alcohol Controlled Zones have been set up in Shirebrook, Clowne and Bolsover.

  • Carried out 39 joint nuisance motorcycle operations with Can Rangers, Police and Countryside Rangers, some of the hotspot locations include; Shirebrook, Pleasley, Clowne, Creswell and Bolsover.
