Chesterfield CSP - Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) can blight people’s lives and the Partnership is working to tackle the underlying causes of it.
Dianne Matthews, ASB Co-ordinator, is working across the Borough to support communities to take a stand against the type of behaviour that is not acceptable.
The Partnership is focussing on:
- Encouraging young people to use open spaces responsibly and to take part in activities provided by the Council or Youth Service.
- Education – informing people about ASB including what it is that we can do about it. We are informing potential offenders about the consequences of behaving anti-socially. We work with the Council Forums, the Youth Service and Schools to provide information to the community
- Intervention - we will support all agencies in using ASB interventions when seen as necessary to stop a person’s anti-social behaviour. These interventions, which can be used on people of all ages, include warning letters, acceptable behaviour contracts (ABCs) and, in extreme cases, anti-social behaviour orders (ASBOs).
ASB needs to be reported to the agency best suited to respond to the complaints such as the Police (e.g. people committing criminal damage), Council (e.g. litter, graffiti, dog fouling, abandoned vehicles) or Registered Social Landlord (e.g. ASB associated with property under a landlord). You will be asked to complete a diary detailing the incidents of ASB giving details of times, who is committing the behaviour and the impact this is having on you. You can download a copy of the diary in "More Information" below. Complete with as much detail as possible and return to the relevant authority.
While we understand that ASB can have a huge impact on peoples’ lives and on communities as a whole, Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership cannot investigate all incidents of ASB. We support agencies in responding to ASB when a co-ordinated multi-agency response is required to ensure that effective long-term measures are introduced to tackle a problem.
If you wish to discuss ASB then please contact the Partnership.
