Chesterfield CSP - Burglary and Theft

While domestic burglary and vehicle crime have fallen dramatically in Chesterfield in recent years, residents feel that these crimes must still be targeted to ensure that the low levels are maintained.

Basic security measures can be a cheap and easy way to secure your property and reduce the likelihood of burglary. Information about what you can do to protect your belongings can be found on the rest of the Safer Derbyshire site or at www.crimereduction.gov.uk. Alternatively contact the Partnership.

The Partnership encourages:

  • Property marking – note down serial numbers and details about your property
  • Secure your points of entry – are your doors and windows secure and locked?
  • Maintain gardens – don’t let overgrown shrubbery provide shadows to conceal a criminal or make your property look as if it is left unattended for long periods of time.
  • Don’t open your door to strangers – Always ask for ID and phone companies to check the identity of callers. Genuine officials will not mind. If in doubt, keep them out!
  • Always lock your vehicle and remove valuables from display
  • Use car parks that have signed up for the Park Mark scheme
