Chesterfield CSP - Violent Crime

Violent crime has increased nationally in recent years and Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership wants to ensure that this is addressed locally.

Domestic abuse is a key priority for the Partnership. We want to encourage people who are victims of this crime to contact support services and to report violent crime. We work closely with local domestic abuse forums as well as statutory partners to protect and support those experiencing domestic abuse and their families, and to prevent repeat victimisation.   The Development Worker, Lynne Cheong, has worked with our partners to find practical solutions to meet the needs of people experiencing abuse, and is developing ways of working with violent offenders to change their behaviour.

If you or someone you know is suffering domestic abuse, the Community Safety Partnership can help:

  • Outreach & drop-in service offering support & advice to men and women experiencing domestic abuse
  • North Derbyshire Handyperson Scheme, which can help with replacement locks and advice on better home security
  • Protection for those needing extra security and peace of mind through the Care Line alarm system and better home security

Town Centre Violence

We are also focussing on violent crime within our town centres, especially alcohol related incidents. The Partnership is working with Licensees to ensure that people coming into Chesterfield Borough to socialise can have a great time without getting into any trouble. The Pubwatch scheme is proactively tackling problematic drinkers and has been banning people from premises in town.

We will be focussing on a Christmas campaign to remind people to watch how much they consume and to help them get home safely.
