Anyone who has detoxed from Heroin or other opiates such as methadone is at very high risk of overdose if they start using it again.

If you do start again after a break from using (even just a few days) do the following to minimise the chances of overdose:

• Do not use if you have alcohol or tranquilisers in your body
• Only use if there are other people around to call an ambulance if you do overdose
• Smoke rather than inject, as injecting increases the risk of overdose
• Start on a lower dose if re-using because your tolerance will have been reduced
