The Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) is in place across Derbyshire to reduce the risk of serious harm for victims of domestic abuse and to increase their health and well-being.
Local agencies meet to discuss these victims and information is shared amongst these different services to formulate a safety plan which meets the victim's needs.
The views of the victim take priority at the meeting as they are voiced through the referring agency. Actions agreed are fed back to the victim and may include supporting the victim, discussing their options such as criminal processes or housing options, safety planning and information on other services. If any further incident occurs, then the case will be referred back so that the level of risk can be re-assessed.

The Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA) work with those cases that are referred into the MARAC process.
The main purpose of the IDVA is to address the safety of victims at high risk of harm to secure their safety and the safety of their children. Serving as a victim's primary point of contact, IDVAs normally work with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans. Any referral into the MARAC process should also be followed by a referral to the IDVA service.
The IDVA service within Derbyshire County (excluding North Bolsover) is provided by North Derbyshire Women's Aid. The IDVA service for North Bolsover is provided by Bolsover District Council. Contact details for the North Bolsover IDVA are: 01246 242503 or 07852 111 268.
Documentation to enable professionals to refer to the county IDVA service can be found in the useful documents section.
