What are Family Intervention Projects?

Family Intervention Projects provide intensive support to families in an assertive way that balances support and enforcement actions.

The projects work with families who are on the brink of eviction or enforcement proceedings such as an ASBO, already homeless or risk having children removed or where there is a significant risk of children entering the criminal justice system.

The project considers the needs of the whole household and assesses the underlying problems driving the family’s behaviour, in order to identify which services need to be involved.

A contract is drawn up between the family and the project which sets out the changes in behaviour that are expected, support that will be provided and the rules imposed if behaviour does not improve.

A keyworker assigned to each family works, persistently, assertively and supportively to keep the families engaged and also make sure that the agencies involved with the family provide necessary and agreed services.

The following leaflets provide information on the service for both families and professionals.
