Perceptions of ASB consultation

To help us understand what affects people’s perception of ASB and what agencies can do differently to improve people’s perceptions of ASB, Derbyshire County Council commissioned  independent consultation with representatives of the Citizens’ Panel.

In April and May 2006, four workshops were held across the county. 140 Panel Members attended with good representation by geographical area, gender and age.

Information from the four consultation events with members of the Citizen’s Panel was collated and presented to partners on 29 June 2006.

The key themes emerging from the consultation were:-

  • Community – the need to develop a sense of community and provision of activities for young people
  • Communication – the need for all agencies to tell communities about action taken to address anti-social behaviour
  • Environment – the need to address environmental issues such as litter, fly tipping etc
  • Education and parental involvement – the importance of citizenship education in schools and parenting training and support
  • Policing and enforcement – the need for all partners to effectively enforce the legislation that has been put in place to tackle anti-social behaviour (and promote the action taken)
