Hotel operator jailed for Fire Safety offences

A hotel operator has been jailed for six months and fined a total of £40,000 and after being convicted of four breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Mr Gurnam Singh Rai appeared at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday 28 March 2017 when he was convicted and sentenced. He will also have to pay £20,000 in costs.
The prosection followed an inspection by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service in January 2015 at the International Hotel, Burton Road Derby.
