MARAC training
Facilitated by trained Safe Lives Champions, this free six and a half hour course will give you a clearer insight into multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARAC) and how they support victims of the most serious cases of domestic abuse.

Intended audience
This course is suitable for:
- MARAC representatives
- MARAC Champions – to observe, (please state on your form)
- learning and development staff who would like to cascade MARAC training within their own agencies – let us know and we can give you access to training materials
- front line staff and middle managers in agencies who may deal with victims of domestic abuse and their families, for example, police; fire service; children and younger adults services including schools; adult social services; health representatives, including GPs; housing and homelessness staff; probation; drug and alcohol workers; voluntary and community groups supporting victims of domestic abuse
- all community safety partners and professionals wishing to know more and support the process
- elected council members interested in the domestic abuse agenda
What is covered
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- understand the MARAC process as a whole
- know who should attend the MARAC and what is expected of MARAC representatives
- be able to complete the 'Safe Lives - DASH risk indicator checklist - key knowledge for front line staff in many agencies'
- understand the importance of correct information sharing to support the process
- understand how MARAC meetings are conducted
- understand the risk assessment, action planning and feedback procedures

Courses are usually held at County Hall, Matlock, Derbyshire.
To attend any of these events you will need to book your place via Derbyshire Learning Online.
How to book
Our booking procedures have changed. You now need a Derbyshire Learning Online user account to be able to book onto this course.
If you already have an account:
- log in to Derbyshire Learning Online
- using the course search function, search for 'MARAC'
- enrol onto the course
- select your chosen event and ‘sign-up’ to book your place
- ensure you fill in all mandatory fields
- submit your booking
- you'll receive an email confirmation of your booking
- if you need to cancel or amend your booking you will need to do this via Derbyshire Learning Online
- If we need to cancel or amend your booking, we'll let you know - for example, an administrator may ask you to change sessions if we have more than our set quota of delegates from your organisation
Request an account for Derbyshire Learning Online
If you have completed community safety eLearning modules in the past, you should already have an account set up. You can log in using the username and password you used previously.
If you do not have an account, follow the instructions for your organisation below:
Derbyshire partner agencies and school governors
Derbyshire partner agency staff, volunteers and school governors wishing to book onto community safety courses will need to create an account to access Derbyshire Learning Online. You will only need to do this once.
- to request a registration key, please email: dlo@derbyshire.gov.uk
- tell us which course you are interested in and which organisation you are from
- you'll receive an email detailing how to create an account, including a registration key
- once your account has been approved, you'll be able to access both community safety classroom-based courses and eLearning modules - it may take a few days for your account to be approved
If you have requested a registration key from another training team, please create your account using that and wait for your account approval. You can then access our courses via that account.

Derbyshire County Council employees
Derbyshire County Council employees, elected members and Derbyshire school employees with SAP payroll numbers should already have accounts set up within Derbyshire Learning Online. You can log in with your SAP payroll number or email address and your saved password.
Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire school employees without SAP payroll numbers should email: dlo@derbyshire.gov.uk to request access.
