Sock it to the scammers

Derbyshire Police’s fraud protection team have launched the “Sock it to the scammers” campaign to give the public a memorable yet simple set of instructions to remember when faced with a potential scam:

Stop. Think. Tell.

The campaign features a colourful sock puppet, Claude, and we recommend you watch the campaign video and share it with your friends and family.

If you are at all unsure about something you are reading, or a phone call you have received, stop the call or close the email. Buy yourself some thinking time to consider whether the communication might be legitimate, and then tell somebody else about your suspicions.

Derbyshire County Council also worked in collaboration with Derbyshire Police to create a bitesize 10 minute video about telephone scams, and will be covering more types of scam in future videos.
