Digital Inclusion
Accessing digital inclusion support in Derbyshire
Digital exclusion is a significant public health issue, affecting communities in Derbyshire. Access to the internet can drive communication, commerce and access to services, but approximately 6% of residents do not have access to the internet. There can be a number of factors behind this, such as accessibility infrastructure (being able to access high-speed internet in rural areas), ability and confidence at using devices, and the affordability of devices and broadband.
Find support in your area
Rural Action Derbyshire have created an interactive map that shows where to find digital support in Derbyshire. It displays places that you can use the internet with support in your area, such as your local library. For people looking to improve their digital skills, there are courses and groups listed on the interactive map to help you to be able meet the 5 digital skills framework: communicating, being safe/legal online, handing information, transacting and using your device.
They also have information for groups looking to set up a digital inclusion project and recruiting/training digital champions.
